He was a commander of the world wide first operational Jet-fighter Unit „Jagdverband 44- JV 44“ equipedwith the Messerchmitt 262. He flew the Me-262 into combat in the final days of the war. Adolf Galland survived and would finish the war with 104 credited air victories.
