Jagdgeschwader 53 was a German Luftwaffe unit during the Second World War. It was created on 1 May 1939 by renaming the Jagdgeschwader 133. The standard aircraft of the unit was the Messerschmitt Bf 109 versions from E (Emil) to K (Kurfürst). The best known members of this unit were the pilots Werner Mölders and Franz von Werra.
